I think it only has 1 condenser.--Clean and set those " phase maker " points as new ones take a lot of beer tokens.--Nobody fixes anything in Toronto.----They just buy new stuff I think.
The points looked really good. Just a tiny pit. Cleaned them up with some 800 grit.

So I took the flywheel and stator cap back off, and while turning the prop my points are both staying closed! I'm guessing that's my problem.
Can anyone tell me how to set them.. Can't find a specific enough video on them, and still looking for a manual.
Is it the high side of the lob directly across from the point or, across from the end ,that sits on the shaft? Thanks.

You need the 1966-1974 Mercury Outboards service repair manual - C-90-68647 there are some on ebay now.

Been SUPER busy & still no manual. Purchased a spark "gap tester" yesterday, because I've been using a spark light tester. Anyway, only getting about an 1/8" of a spark...So tomorrow I'm going to try and set the points.
Only info I can find on the Thunderbolt egnition is, the high side of the lobe on the shaft, should directly line up with the point arm, that's touching the shaft. Then rotate and do the 2nd point. Atlest that's what a few outboard mechanics on Utube have told me. Not sure if it's correct because most of these guys have very little Mercury experience. It's almost funny how little Mercury info is online as opposed to Johnson, Evinrude etc...

Also in the comments I've read, 2 different guys said if your point insulators even has a crack in them, they can cause either a full ground , or only a minimal spark to the coils..So I think I'll be purchasing a set of insulators also, as mine have a few cracks..

So I spoke with my marine parts store and was told there's only 1 guy, that they know off that, has parts, can order parts or has my parts laying around. Just spoke with him and was told, those insulators were a very common problem with cracking. Also said they're discontinued and he has nothing around the shop. So I'm S.O.L. until I can possibly find someone on ebay.
