Mercury 850 thunderbolt (cannot determine the year)

Hello all!

I started a restoration on an old mercury 850 thunderbolt. I found the serial number but I cannot for the life of me find anything online that corresponds with that serial number to the exact year the motor is. Any help determining this would be appreciated! The starter has a date stamp of 11-22-76, but that is the only indicator I have. Due to the site not allowing me to upload photos the serial number is;

Yup! They are also blue. I’m looking to get a service manual for the engine because I want to check everything. Do you recommend a certain site/brand to purchase a manual?

77 was the last Yr for the 66 cu in 4 cyl 850. In 78, it became the 800.

So Far this is the Only Copy I found on Flea Bay of the Factory Manual. Cover page is missing, but that Manual would cover your engine
