Hey guys, I just bought a Mark Twain run about today for a steal. The Mercury 850 is missing the distributor cap, and the internal wiring harness. Anyone know of a cheap place to find these parts?

Re: Mercury 850 problems

I have owned a 1975 850 and ANY part for that motor when it comes to ignition will almost have to be bought new and they are ALL expensive. The distributor cap is a common replacement part.

The "cheap" parts will only be used parts I'm afraid.

I have an older merc 850 also and there is a guy here local that has literally thousands of old motor parts . His daughter told me that he sometimes sells on ebay but maybe you could call him and see if you can work something out . I know he has distributors, caps and wires for your engine . I just went down and got a good used cap, brush, and wire set from him ...anyway try giving him a call ..the number is 270-442-1741..hope it helps
