Hi. I have read many post and think i have the answer but need help. I purchased this boat from my brother. It has a 91 Mercury 60 on it. He said the stator had been replace and the boat ran great. I ran the boat and it ran Great for a few minutes and died. It started back but wouldn't run past idle. I found that it was only firing on number 2. I also found that when the stator was replace the wires for the trigger had been crushed and were melted together. I knew the trigger was gone so i replace it. Still only fire on 2. When I unhook the positive lead wire to no. 2 coil the other 2 fire. I think the shorted out wires from the trigger messed the switchbox up. What do you think?

Thanks,

Victor

Re: Mercury 60 firing problems

Victor, thar sounds right plus everything else has been changed. If you want to test the box you would have to use a DVA and check the input and output voltages.
