mercury 39 3.9

got this motor and its is unreal shape. have one problem though, can't figure out how connect the fuel line to the connector on the motor. the connector on the motor looks male but i can't find any fuel line connectors that will attach to it. had to buy tank and primer bulb at local store and looked at everything that they had but nothing worked. is there away around this or is there a female connector that i have to buy.?

I didn't look at the above link but just wanted to mention that they made a "small" size mercury connector in the early 70's that's not as big as the current ones.

i bougt a connector like that today, but it is to big for the motor. is this why on the link you sent there is a special connector for the 3.9-9.9 1962 to 1971.

I looked at the link: Wow, 60 buck$. I don't rememebr older Mercs having a smaller bayonet fitting, thought they were all the same.
I thinks I'd be hunting up a boatmotor salvage yard.

I looked in the book and the last year for a 3.9 was 1968. After that they were 4s and 4.5s.
