I've recently had one of my relay switches on the rear of my motor (the one that controls the trim) go out. If I tap the switch it will work then stop working. The motor is a 2001 200hp Mercury Efi. I've bought two replacements from Napa and both of them went bad within one outting. Is my problem that im buying these switches? Should I buy a better high quality switch? If so where can I get it and what is the part number.

Thanks for the help guys

I suspect the relays are fine, and the ground bonding to them is corrupt.

hope it helps

Make sure they are rated at 20/30 amps DC min. Not just any 'ole relay will work. What John said...................

I can tell you that my 1999 225 efi would have problems with trim/relays when my main motor ground (under cowl ) was loose or dirty.

Re: Mercury 200hp Relay Switch Problems

Well guys correct me if im wrong. The relay switches control the trim. One switch is for up and one for down. The motor will currently trim up but no down. So I have two "bad" cheap switches from napa. Well I took one of the napa switches and replaced the other relay that was working and after I did this the motor wouldn't trim up or down. This is why I think it may be the switches I bought. Please let me know what you think.

Where can I get a good relay switch offline?

For future reference or any one who would like to know the part can be purchased directly from iboats.com and the part # 852-9819.
