I'm looking at purchasing a boat that the owner installed motors that have to short of shafts. They are 99 mercury 200's twins. They need long shafts. Just looking for some answers as to what is involved with putting longer shafts in? Can I just purchased the shafts? Will I just need shafts and longer mount assemblys? I don't think a jackplate would be a option with these? Open for suggestions!

Well it looks like those kits are $750.00 kinda pricey. Couldnt I just drop the lower unit and install a 25" shaft and find an extension?

You need 5"spacer,shift shaft, driveshaft, water tube,studs.....kits are a lotl cheaper and less intensive to install.
