Hi Im new to this Forum so hear goes.
I ran a search through this forum with out luck. I have a problem with the trim whilst im at above idle with the engine under load i am not [planning but at around 3000 revs. The trouble is that the motor trims only half way up then shudders and goes slowly back down this does not happen out of the water or whilst planning at speed just while the motor is under load.
Checked fluid in resovour which was fine also un screwd the manual lowering nut to see if there was any grit in thread also to no avail.
Does anyone had this problem and are there any solutions?
Thanks Bluedog

Hi Lacey bluedog
I guess I'm a little confussed by your description of the problem, you say it only trims halfway up?
then slowly goes back down.
The power trim & tilt unit is designed to work like this, when you trim up it will trim as far as the guides on the clamp bracket then propellor thrust will overcome hydrallic lift and push it back down.
When no thrust is being applied by the prop the engine will "tilt" all the way up.
This is all done so that you can't (in theory) tilt the motor to high and loose water pressure while underway.
If the unit is "tucking in under power and will not hold a trim position I would suspect you have a debris in a check valve or possibley a leaking memory piston. Hope this helps
