Mercury 200 Black Max Alarm

I have a 1989 Mercury 200 Black Max, when I turn the key the alarm sounds continuously, even after it is running instead of 1-beep and go off. In my researching this issue, I've come across the different alarm beeps indicators and what causes the alarm to sound. But nothing directly related to my issue. Can anyone help?

Find the overheat temp switch on the motor and disconnect wire. If it quits then its a bad switch
