Hi....
First time post in the mercury section , I have just sold my old boat which had a johnson on it and I am looking at a new one with a 1996 200hp v6 mercury on it , its the model with carbs not the EFI , he has spent quite a bit on the enigne having new pistons and rings etc. Anything i should look for on these motor and what are they like in general ?

As long as you keep them well oiled and well fueled, they perform well and are very reliable.

Let it lean out, or don't pay attention to the alarms, and it'll throw rod caps at ya.

And, of course, the black ones are faster than the white ones.:D
