I have a 2015 Mercury 15hp, with tiller steer; shifter and throttle in the twist handle. The twist handle will tend to stick, and get very tight. I have tried cleaning and greasing the shift linkage under the cowl, but it usually sticks up again after a few minutes. Pressing the Throttle Only button will allow the twist handle to turn, and you can work it and it will loosen up, but it always gets tight again.

I think the issue is in the shift linkage, but everything, including the cables, look OK.
Any ideas ?
Thanks

Is that a new motor to you ? Seems the 15 & 20 HP will go that route when trying to tiller shift with motor off, should work fine with motor on...

There is a tension adjustment. Thought I’d ask the obvious perhaps. But depends on how stiff you think she is. Too slack is never a good thing either

I have the same issue with my 2016 15 hp four stroke. After the motor gets hot, the throttle gets very difficult to twist. Not the tension adjustment. Seems to be in the linkage. Works fine when cool. Anyone have a "fix" for this?

Hello, I'm Alex from Germany. I have the same problem with my Mercury 15 hp. The throttle cable will get stuck when it gets hot. Have you solved the problem with your outboard motor? Best regards Alex
