there's a lotta numbers "after" tha 1B.. ya gotta take tha whole number ya have and not worry 'bout tha "range"...............................
Yep but current serial number : 1B-882825 matches the IB-227000 and UP serial number models spare parts...

strange.. first time entered serial number on Merc's web site came up as 2011 4 cyl. 4 stroke.. now it says number not found???

Not using the Merc's web page to check that out, it's other distributor's web page that sells Merc's OEM parts. The motor has been clearly identified as being a 2 stroke, 6 cylinder 150 XL EFI motor with apparent 2011 year fabrication, that's were got all those previously quoted spare parts quotes.

Fuel filter color makes no difference and lil to no pressure unless engine was running or bulb pumped tight. This is on the supply side.

The new spare parts should arrive by friday, the motor will be taken care of during the weekend to have a healthy running motor for our 2022 summer which has started already. Prior removing the external fuel filter need to press the pressure relief valve located on the VST housing shown in pic 17 or simply unscrew the old fuel filter and screw a new one in ? The motor was running before being stopped if that makes a difference regarding both procedures...

Filter on supply side lil to no pressure. Shrader valve is high pressure fuel pump.

Thanks, is the valve shown in pic 17 the Shrader Valve which must be pushed in before attempting dissasembling the VST housing ?

There is no pressure in VST housing..only on outlet to injectors. Ya really need to get a manual so you understand how it works before you try repair.

Have the Service Manual, but oh boy it's very extensive to read and understand compared to low HP motors Service Manuals. Just thinking in doing preventive maintenances such as thermos, spark plugs, fuel filter, impeller change, hope the fuel filter is the culprit for the wot rpm reduction when encountering non flat waters..

Parts have arrived, friday will be changing all. Question : is there's no hexagon allen to remove the white plug screwed on lower middle fuel filter,

is it safe to remove the plug with some sort of pliers holding it by the neck ? Should the lower probe be screwed fully in till screws no more ?

Should just be able to take a Allen wrench set and unscrew plug. Apply PTFE to last of sensor threads and screw in 3/4 of length, If fully inserted it will bottom out on steel mesh of filter giving alarm

Early in the morning removed all 6 spark plugs, were completely fouled with carbon accumulations and heavily exterior rusted, the last moron that changed the external fuel filter screwed it in so hard definitely not by bare hand and apparently without previously greasing the large rubber o'ring that almost broke the VST housing during removal, to my luck that awful scenario didn't happen...

Thought that high HP motors with heavier steel powerheads used in salted water for long years were near immune to salted water deterioration & oxidation, a resounding Nope.

The t-stats housing located in the head and external covers were found severely rusted, salt crusted and restricted. Seen t-stats severely screwed, but these 2 are candidate for a world record, pics speaks for both mentioned scenarios.

Tomorrow will have a long cleaning day with a Dremel Tool and mini steel round brushes to remove all the salt crap found in the t-stats housings. Will take advantage to remove both overheat sensors to clean their upper tips to immaculate clean cond which should be found salt crapped too. This motor is definitely not cooling properly, imagine all the salt layers and crusts that have already been collected over the years, the previous owner did not believed in flushing his engine with fresh water soon after returning to terra firme.

The fuel filter was found to have water, not an exaggerated amount, but water nonetheless...

You replaced the plugs in a earlier post, did you not spray them with a protectant? Need to check temp alarm to see if functioning...

Nope, old ones were just cleaned and regaped, will install new ones this time. That motor really needs a lot of things to look after. Hope that when all the new spare parts are finally changed the motor will work as expected, fingers crossed!!

If it’s not alarming and beeping. It’s a fuel or electrical issue. See if you can borrow a VesselView mobile off someone. Plug it in. I’d check the voltage it’s putting out too. See if it’s spurious

Looks like the PO is a "run it 'til it fails" (then he'll slag Mercury for making a crappy motor) kind of guy! I bought a car ( a 2004) 3 years ago and it had the original plugs; I asked the owner why he never changed them and he said "if it ain't broke don't fix it"

To be fair, modern automotive spark plugs are rated for 100K miles. I changed the ones in my 2009 Altima a couple of years ago, due to mileage spec. They looked fine.

OBs are a different animal, as rust (at least here in the NaCl-H2O) gets their exteriors.

Nope, a premature wild guess, the OP is very happy with his combo, the issue is there's no one down here to ckeck and take care of his 150 HP electronic EFI motor, C-19 shot the dealer so will need to dance alone to the rhythm of his favorite music You can't possible apply the old if ain't broke don't fix adage to outboards, no motor running specially on salted water can be compared to any air cooled, green krypto cooled motor, way different water animal with different preventive and corrective maintenances schedules which near everybody skips to save money to be invested wisely in buying cold beers. LOL!!
