Easy Cowboy!!! Depends on the year I guess... My 86 4.3 calls for a 143 stat..my temp gauge is always within 5 deg of that. Doesnt matter what speed i am runnin, or what the water temp is FYI Edit just reread your post you said 4.3 i idk
