Mercruiser not shifting right

sometimes when I shift into drive the boat doesn’t immediately go into dive and I end up jerking the boat when it finally engages. It sounds like a rapid clicking then it engages

well the idle rpm is around 650-700 rpm then the fwd and rev handle did a throttle of that moving it a bit ...
also the engine idle is higher RPM or the shifter of the switch of the you tube adjusting or the throttle/shifter cables ... also the shifter switch around the cables YOU TUBE ..
the outdrive oil is inspecting it ...

Most likely your lower shift cable is toast and sticking in its sheath
