Mercruiser fuel pump

I need a new electric fuel pump for a 1999 4.3 mercruiser alpha 1 gen 2. IOs this a specific part or will any old fuel pump work? Thoughts?

I'd look for the oem replacement. More importanly, make sure it is a marine fuel pump. there should be some part numbers on the side of the old one.

Ayuh,.....

The related Plumbing,+ Fitment Issues make it a Specfic Application part.....
There's also the Safety Factor,.. Being on a Boat,+ all......

Is it Mechanical or Electric,..??

it must be replaced with a marine pump, and when you start pricing pumps you should be able to find one for a little over $100. So it is not worth getting a cheap pump then spending money on brackets and fuel lines.

How and why do you think you need a new pump? Lots of people come here after replacing an electric fuel pump to find that wasn't the problem after all.
So, what's your REAL problem.

Like he just said it might not be the problem. I just replaced the fuel pump on my 99 mercruiser 5.0 and that didn't fix it. The pump for that was $250.

There isn't a fuel pump on the motor, just a big void where it's supposed to be. This boat went down in salt water and all the electrical components need to be changed out.
