hello i have sae j1223 marine carburetor for mercruiser engine 5.7l and I want to buy new carburetor. any suggestions

first, welcome aboard

second SAEJ1223 is the certification for marine carburetors. not the part number of the carburetor.

start by year of engine and serial number if you have it.

Third, most carburetors can simply be cleaned and rebuilt for a fraction of the cost of a new carburetor.

thanks for reply. as i bought the boat used. so i do not have any info. and i tried to do a lot of maintenance but it must be changed

mercruiser has literally been putting GM 350's (5.7 liters) in boats for well over 55 years. you have to be a bit more specific. like exact year and we need the serial number.

over that time there have been 4 generations of 5.7 liter motors, and about 8-10 different carburetors used.

There will be a number stamped on the carb itself that you may be able to do a search on.

serial number will be on a tag riveted to the engine block, just above the starter.

I agree with Grub. nothing wrong that a good $35 carb kit and a $4 spray can of paint wont fix.

hello . the pin that's responsible for adding fuel sometimes stuck and rpm is maximum 3000 rpm. and the boat is not moving fast. i tried to fix it two times and everything is ok for just one week. and then problem appears again. so i have been adviced to buy new one. and by the way the gasket at the bottom leaks air.. thanks

Did you actually install a carb kit? And adjust the float height/drop? If all you are doing is cleaning it, it'll never be right without a new needle/seat. That bottom gasket is easily obtainable from your local parts store.
