Pressure testing Mercury alpha 1 gen 2 sterndrive after replacing shift shaft seal and input shaft seal. (sterndrive on boat, not removed)
holds pressure well when in trailer position but leaks air rather quickly when trimmed down to level.
Some gear oil accumulating on gear oil supply hose but can't see any bubbles when sprayed with soapy water????? confused.

pull the drive, place in suitable holding device/stand, ensure all the lube is drained, then pressure test
All oil was drained, I tested the lower drive unit after input shaft seal and shift rod seal replacement- all good. I put it back on the main and thought I'd double check the drive overall. Looks like what Bt Doctor said the oil line is compromised, pressure held 15 min. untill I lowered the drive to level trim. I guess I was surprised a bad oil line held pressure at all but I'm a rookie and boat mechanics is a different animal altogether.
