I was fortunate enough to find a brand new 1998 Mercruiser 7.3 d-tronic diesel still on the Mercruiser shipping pallet. It's been in storage for 24 years.
After hooking up the harness and controls along with a fresh battery it started right up.
Any feedback on these engines? I'm planning to install in my boat restoration project with a Bravo 3 X stern Drive.

It's the same 7.3L that International Navistar built and Ford called the 7.3 Powerstroke. Mercruiser use was short lived, and so parts will be hard to find.. Yours is brand new but eventually you will need parts.

Ayuh,..... I'm jealous,... I'm on my 3rd pickup with that motor,.....
Got 'bout 300,000 abusive miles on the 1st 2,....
Always wanted one for my boat, but as noted, they were never very popular,....

That is amazing, you might check the value of that engine on the open market before you do much. 15k would not surprise me in the least..25/30? Lol we live in a crazy world.

This engine you have is in a highly detuned state, doubling it output would be quite easy. In its current state watch the engine oil you use closely, it is used to run the injector pumps...a little foam does not go over well.
