I am having trouble with my 2007 Sea Ray 220 Select with the Mercruiser 6.2 Liter engine. It has begun to sporadically cut off while running. The boat actually cuts out more often the more I drive it. The funny thing is that there is little warning or hesitation/sputtering. It just dies, like pulling the kill switch. Sometimes if I let off the gas fast enough, I can keep it from shutting down. If it cuts off, I can always restart it right away. It also only happens when I am on plane. At idle speed, I don't have a problem.

I first thought it might be water in the gas. I added fuel stabilizer and it didn't help at all. I took the fuel filter off and drained the gas from it. There was some water, but not much. Took the boat out for another test drive and had the same issues as before. By then it was time to go home, so I didn't have time to take the filter off again and check for water. I'll have to fool with it again next weekend. I just get the feeling that it isn't fuel. Anyone have any suggestions?

Could be a lot of things...could very well be fuel...I'd start at the fuel tank by checking the anti-siphon valve and go from there...

you said it... kill switch sometimes a bump will cause a miss. how is it at mid range running. As I've found with boat motors, everything is possible to cause a problem.

I have the same problem with my 6.2. I spent over a 1000.00 and changed every fuel filter. Did you ever find the problem????
