Mercruiser 3.0L distributor

This may be a dumb question, but I'm wondering if the distributor off of a 3.0 OMC would work on my 3.0 Mercruiser? Mine is a 1990 and the OMC in question is from a 87' Bayliner.

Depends on which distributor do you have now? Is yours now Points, EST, or DDIS?

My distributor now has points, and I'm assuming the one in question has points also. I did some checking on the iboats parts site and it shows the same distributor for my mercruiser and for the omc. So I think it should work.
