Mercruiser 3.0 Losing Gear Oil

I’m losing gear oil rather quickly but the oil leak is plainly evident. I know there’s some seal and it could be leaking into the bellows but there is a hole above the water intake on the lower unit that some oil is coming out of. I’m just not sure what that means or what that hole is called.

That's a drain hole. Most likely source of the oil is the shift Shaft Seal, but in that location it could be one of a couple of others too. You need to remove the drive, drain the oil and pressure test to confirm which seal..
