I had 20PSI in #2 Cyl. Thinking thaqt it was a burnt valve, I removed the head, found that the head gasket was blown between #2&3 Cylinders.
I also discovered that there is a hair line crack between these cylinders. Its not much deeper than a piece of dental floss.
Its an old boat and I cant throw alot of money at it. I was tol;d that permatex makes a high temperature compound that I can fill the crack with.
Is anyone familiar with this process? I'm not sure what the procedure is for filling the crack.
Any help would be appreciated

Howdy,

You *could* put a head gasket back on it and see what happens.....

I think you're done. Hairline cracks are frequently deeper than a piece of hair.........you'll know when it warms up.

Good luck.

We fixed an old, tired, oil burning cummins 8.3L with JB weld. Lasted 3 years more when the rest of the log skidder died.....

The crack was because it was run too long with a blown gasket.
