I purchased a pristene 1982 Sea Ray 210 the other day in Lake Tahoe Ca. I test drove the boat for over an Hour prior to buying it. The boat had 1 owner and was dry stored every year and have docs that show that. I took it to the Delta in central Ca and we had a prob with the engine getting hot while trolling, the good when at 2500 to 3500 RPM but gets hot on the high end. Again, I tested the boat at all these speeds in Tahoe and it held temp and oil pressure perfect. Any ideas?????

Start by changing your impeller.

Define "hot". What tempatures is it reaching at different RPM's?

the gauge just has a green feild and a small red feild no numbers. When trollimg around 6-800 rpm it got almost all the way up to the red and the engine shut off. I'mm not sure if the Sea Ray has a thermal overload or what. But it started right back up and I pushed the throttle only buttom and was able to rev it a bit and it cooled right down. We can cruise around at 2500 to 3500 with normal temp ( the needle straight up or a bit to the left but well within the green), But above 3800 rpm to full throttle it will climb towards the red again. So that is the thing, at the very low and high ends it will over heat.

Besides doing the impeller and water pump, the only way you are going to be able to accuratelt troubleshoot it is to have an accurate guage that shows the real temperature...
