mercruiser 165 water leak

i have a 1987 mercruiser 165 gm motor with groves in camshaft i have been told to put a repair sleeve on cam. my problem is i can't it at any boat dealer
where can i get one please help thank you

i got a speedy sleeve from my local precision bearing company. i don't know if you have that store, but perhaps any bearing distributor will be able to help you... or google it maybe????

First off, it is NOT a GM motor. You have a 470 by a different model number. It's an aluminum block designed by Mercruiser, with a 460 Ford head stuck on top. Also has a strange charging and cooling system (as you have found out)
The fix is a called a "Speedy Sleeve" . You can find them at your local bearing house. But it's not the fix recommended by dealers. They don't always work. What you need is a new camshaft.
