Hi all,
I've got a 5.7L Mercruiser V8 (2006) with a TKS 2 barrel Carburetor. Had problems all summer long despite a rebuild on the carb. So I am looking to replace with a standard electric choke 2 barrel carb, but having issues with identification of the correct replacement.

I've attached a picture of the serial number, and the number is 8661 32 5216. Has anyone replaced a similar carb, I am thinking the Sierra Marine 18-7376N will replace as it states in the documentation "For use on 5.7L Mercruiser V8, 1998 or newer".

Not wishing for performance gains etc, just to replace and get on the water without the issues I had last summer.

Thanks.

If it is for that application it should work just fine. You need to wire up a 12 v supply off the purple ignition circut . I thin this is the same one that supplies 12 v power to the fuel pump and ignition when the key is in run position . Double check where the fuel inlet is some are on the left side some in front of fuel bowl. This can be worked around just need to plan for it.

Thanks for the replies. That is what I was thinking of doing @Scott06. I am happy to part ways with the TKS choke and hook directly to 12v with a return.

@alldodge Is there a reason you are stating to replace with OEM other than to keep the current choke system?

The Sierra Marine 18-7376N is a lot more economical route for me, so just wondering if there is something I am missing?

I do my best to not buy Sierra, and don't recommend
Did find out that the Merc carb with electric choke is 864942A01 but only in rebuilt and about same price. Its a Rochester 2GC so culd go that route also

To change you will need a Merc 2bbl, Choke tube and connector with 1/2 inverted flare fitting. The Merc carb doesn't use an electric choke, it uses a heat tube
Both the mercarbs I’ve had had an electric choke - 1990 and 2003 they were oem mercarbs not messed with.
