Just bought a 14 ft '66 Steury with a '71 Mercury motor. All wires to ignition and lites and instruments have been cut. Any suggestions in rewiring. I would settle for just running lites and fuel gauge?

Also, has anyone had any experience in using opti-2 as fuel mix?

Re: Merc wiring

I'd suggest going to your local boating store and buying the proper book on your Merc.
I have one and it's very detailed on all aspects of the motor including wiring.

You are going to need the serial number of the engine to get the right book.

Re: Merc wiring

KPKID, Lights are wired directly to the battery, via a fuse. They do not go thru the MerControl. The gauges are run off the white ignition wire, off a 3 prong connector on the MerControl.
