Hi Guys,

I have a 2001 merc V6 240 EFI in a jet boat.
I have no spark in three cylinders.
I checked the coils but that is not the problem
Any ideals?

Basically an Outboard powerhead with a jet drive, so I'll move it over to the outboard section.

Essentially thats a 2.5 liter 225 HP pro max powerhead on a jet drive unit. They rate those at the crank because the jet drives losses are so huge it would only be 150 HP at the jet nozzle and that sounds terrible. Three cylinders on the same bank I'd be looking at a switch box. Change one and you should change the other one too as a new one will take the old one out or the other way around. CDI makes a good replacement and you could do both for under $250 ish.

It's an inboard 2 stroke V6

It is but its not your regular inboard V6 which is typically a converted automotive engine sitting in a boat. You have a Mercury Marine 2.5 liter outboard engine that sits in a boat and powers a jet drive. All the other Mercruiser inboard/outdrive engines are not built by Mercury. They are GM or Ford engines. Yours is a Mercury built 225 pro max engine with a differently splined crankshaft to mate with the jet unit and different accessories.

It's 2 cylinders on 1 side and 1 on the other. Thanks again for all the help.

2001 should be an 'lectronic cdm motor. No switch boxes. They made two versions. One with a regular ecu, stator, trigger and ign. controller. Tha other one, SN# 0E434066 & up has tha alternator, pcm and such. Need ta know which one ya got?

This engine has CDMs and an ECU, not switchboxes... Requires a whole new ball of wax for diagnostics... Do you have a scan tool or diagnostic software on a PC? (You are going to need it)

"lectronic type motors took all tha "fun" and "easier" outta workin' on these things and left this 'ole man even farther behind!

From the picture thats the standard EFI with ECU and stator and with 3 & 6 not firing check the trigger and download the CDI manual from their site and check CDM modules...
