Well I went to the dealer today and the Merc stuff costs 16.50 a qt. if anyone is interested.
How much does the outdrive hold? Thanks

paul

I believe Walmart also sells Quicksilver High Perf gear lube for less. Quicksilver is the retail brand of Mercury.

Outboard Lower Unit | Quicksilver Products

Some folks prefer to spend more at the dealer. That's fine.

Cabellas sells their own line of synthetic lubes that exceed Merc's standards. It is also a bit less money. I have been using it for 5 years in my outboard and stern drive lower units. Comes out as clean as it went in and no problems.
