Merc 75 (7.5hp) year lookup not jiving

Hello...my father recently bought a 7.5hp merc for me. The serial # is 957779 located on the silver plate on the transom bracket. Ive checked all the charts for yr. model look up and see nothing that comes close. Any help would be great. thanks

And so it states that the 1989 starting # is 9549689....then the 1990 starting # is 9586000....would this mean my engine (957779) would be a 1989 model then?

thanks tommarvin....i guess im interested to know also if US parts will swap out on these belgium made engines as i have no spark right now.

MISTAKE.....i read the serial # wrong. It does have a 2 in front of it. So its serial # is 2957779. Here are some pics. Is this in fact a 1970?
