Re: Merc 65hp on a Jet Star? (now with pictures!)
Something something about falling into horse droppings & smelling like roses
....
You may have Jas beat on deal finding.
How much stuff does that seller sell? Listed w/ wrong part # & it's stamped into it well enough for you to see in an online pix?
?!?! And wrong left/right rotation:facepalm:
Congrats
He sells lots, apparenty a wrecker that picks up old boats/engines (tons of sellers like that on ebay)
He had a picture of the PN he decided was the correct part#, and it had an L stamped in the ring (hub).
marked picture of actual item in the ad
I beleive the L he listed to be a roll mark in the hub forging
but the actual PN is stamped on the outter part of the prop (if mercury)
This seller deals mostly with OMC parts from what I gathered.
the fact that he stated he was pulled from a merc 650, his feedback rating, and actual item note I decided lets see.
+ a 30day return policy if all else fails.
I was going to have him confirm if the picture was reversed, but when zooming in on the prop looking for something backwards (like writing) I saw the real part number at an angle, tossed it up on my monitor at home and confirmed the PN was a good one
And the fact the writing was not reversed = picture not reversed
Nice find on the prop. It just goes to show that you can usually find a great deal if you know what you're doing and hunt for it.
I have gotten away with this a few times on ebay, incorrect parts listing, incorrect PN but lists the engine it was pulled for, often some very old PN that is not listed anywhere and the seller just want's it gone.
(steering arm comes to mind)
I'm assuming you confirmed that his pictures were of the actual item......
That is a worry, but I won't know for sure until I get the item.
if it is a backwards prop, I'll try the return policy, if not back on ebay it goes!
Also the prop he pictured appeared to be in good condition, but it could use a cleanup/paint job, might of sat in salt water, or the flash just bleached the picture out.
