does anyone know where I can find a tach for a 1970-1971 merc 650 outboard?

I heard only the oem parts will work with it... guess I could try a generic one just to make sure, and if it works then I could get a good quality one from here...

any tach for an outboard with adjustable pole settings will work

Remove brown wire from the switch box and connect it to either of the yellow wires on the rectifier.

FYI,
I just bought an original on Ebay. It actually had the cable and plug that goes directly into the control box. I believe there were a few more. Might not hurt to take a look
