Merc 350 Mag Alpha starter

Ok found a rusty starter on my motor... I see iboats carrys 2 the Sierra and the Mallory. Whats your opinion on the better of the 2?

Mallory probably makes the one for Sierra.Sierra is a retailer.They don't make many if any of their own hard parts.
They stick their name on a lot of aftermarket parts.
Take yours off and get it rebuilt.Then when you get it back.Paint it a bunch or seal it in ruubber.That will help to keep it from rusting again.J

The old starter is junk Jerry.... It's rust welded together... boat has been sleeping since 2002!

Ayuh,... I just go to Napa, 'n order a factory recon from them, by application...

Been using the permanent magnet type for a few years now...
They work Great, 'n are much lighter, there for easier to install....
