Ah...ok, thanks for that little bit of info. I'm new to boat mechanics...LOL! Know my way around cars and motorcycles, but boats are a new beast to me.

You know about holding it in forward when you bolt the two drive halves back together, and don't forget to change to quad Oring between the drive halves on the starboard side of the drive.

I did change out that little o-ring on the starboard side. Not sure I understand what you mean by "holding it in forward" though. One thing I just realized is that previously I was able to turn the shaft by turning the prop shaft...now for some reason I can't. It as if the shaft is locked somehow.

For completeness.. That is the 'lower shift shaft'. The shaft in the upper housing of the drive (the 'drive shaft housing') is called the 'intermediate shift shaft' and the one in the bell housing is the 'upper shift shaft'...

The shift spool is actually inside the lower drive housing (the 'gear housing') on the forward end of the propeller shaft.

A really good resource to find the correct names as used by the manufacturers are their parts breakdown websites. For the MC1 drive you have , try this one.... -> MC-1 parts drawings

As an aside, when you start a new topic/threads, please add engine and drive identification information. We like to see model and year, and serial number. It does make it difficult to help with specific problem if we don't know what we are dealing with. If you are unsure where to find serial numbers... -> http://forums.iboats.com/forum/engi...rn-drive-and-engine-serial-numbers#post645586

Cheers,

Chris.....

Thank you Chris and yes, I see your point about putting the info in the title...I should've realized that. Thanks again.
