Marks under valve cover

Hello Anyone experienced this white marks under the valve cover? Is it factory markings ??

Yes its either factory or rebuilder marks. A Mechanic will mark things after assembly to note each item was measured, torqued, or other

I am wondering about this white markings under the springs, whats that? its solid I cannot scrap it by finger, at 1st look I tought it looks like water in oil but its not... ??

Its some kind of stain. I'm rebuilding a 7.4 and it has the same white color under some of the spring areas. Might have been done during manufacture but this motor is a Merc REMAN be rebuilt again

What made you take off the valve cover? Engine runs well otherwise?

I was inspecting the elbows and exhaust so why not to replace the valve gasket ? I think oil was seeping on the corners also but will see

Probably a stain from when they machined the heads for the valves. Nothing to worry about
