I have a Mariner 115 IL6. I believe it is an '87. It has the three ram trim/tilt unit. Anyway, the trim motor stopped working while we were on vacation. I attempted to open the manual release and guess what, it broke. I could not get it out, and in a pinch, I continued digging it out until the pressure released.
Now, do you think I killed any chance of fixing the manual release since I have messed the threads up? If so, is there a way to otherwise seal it and use the power system?
Also, I removed the trim motor and it had water in it. I attempted to remove the pump from the manifold so I might get a better look at the end of the manual release valve, but I cannot get the pump out. Any suggestions? By the way, one of the brushes had broken loose from the mounting base---the little tabs that hold it are gone.
I know the can buy rebuil kits for the rams and the motor, but where is the best place to purchase them?
Your help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
