Hi guys,

I bought an universal tachometer like this

tahometru_-_1_1.jpg

On it's settings I have 3 modes of operation:
1 - spark plug fires twice per revolution
2 - once per revolution
3 - every other revolution

My motor is a mariner ELPTO, 60 HP made in 1989. Has 3 cylinders and 2 carbs.

Which is the correct setting for it?
Thank you very much

You should buy an alternator driven tach they sell them on this site, they're

My tach from the 80's.
tougher and will probably last longer; might be more accurate too.

Yes. You set the idle RPM in forward gear. Usually about 650 to 700 but check the specification in the manual to be sure.

I don t have an alternator on my motor, I have a stator and a voltage regulator for charging battery.
The "alternator" on your motor is the stator. You should be able to hook a standard tachometer to one of the yellow wires from it.
