Manual Tilt Issues

I finally got my 68 Johnson 33hp tuned and running nice. Now I have to deal with the little things that I've been ignoring. To wit Tilt!

The release button on my manual tilt is not working. It does not seem to have enough leverage to lift the lick off the pin. Can someone take a look and see if everything is there that should be. If there is a piece missing or on wrong please let me know. (I got the motor on trade and the previous owner was creative to say the least. Thanks

BTW I know the pin is missing, I pulled it out. It's the other stuff that is outsmarting me.

Oh yeah, I also can't find a diagram of the motor mount anywere. Anyone know where I might find one. I've tried all the parts and repair cats I can find.

Is the arm bent, not allowing the lever to pull up far enough?
Look at the parts breakdown and look how it goes togeather.

The arm is straight. I can't seem to find a parts breakdown. The BRP site has exploded views of praticlly everything but the motor mount. Am I looking in the wrong place?

Re: Manual Tilt Issues

Not sure about your 68 Johnson 33 hp, but, i could not get manual tilt to release on my 64 Evinrude 9 1/2 hp,....that is, not until I moved the shift lever into the forward position, then the fingers released, and I was able to tilt the motor up. I was working on the bench, not while on the boat.

Re: Manual Tilt Issues

Also, try marineengines.com for the diagram. Found diagrams for my 64 91/2 there. It listed the Evinrude Parts Catalog for the 1964 Sportwin 9-1/2 hp. Each section had it's own link, like, Motor cover group, Carburetor Group,Stern Bracket Group is where my Tilt Lock parts were located. Happy Hunting.
