manifold gasket leaking

I have a 1971 merc165 i just got a chance to fire it up today and while it ran nice and smooth i found that their is a water leak. It has sat the last 2 yrs and theirs no trail down the block so i belive the leak has been cause by sittin. When its running or shut off there is a trickle of water down the block from behind the manifold that appears to be coming from the gasket between head and manifold. Is it usuall for their to even be water there it doesnt fill up the cylinder or anything once you shut it off????? thanks for any help also its a standard cooling system not closed

When its running or shut off there is a trickle of water down the block from behind the manifold that appears to be coming from the gasket between head and manifold.

Ayuh,... There's No gasket holding water there,...
Unfortunately, I believe you have a Cracked block, or manifold....

Yank it off, 'n have a Look...

Yea im going to take it off tomarrow and see whats going on. Just got the boat the guy that had it before left it sit for 2 years but it had been winterized, it seems to be somthing that has happened since it was sitting because their is no water tracks down the block where it was leaking so not sure what may be going on reckon i'll know tomarrow. Thanks Sorry for what may seem like a stupid question im just used to outboards and im an auto mechanic so i feel stupid but i just wasnt firmilure with the layout of a liquid cooled manifold. Well i yanked it off 2day and boy does that sombi*** weigh a ton. The riser gasket was not blown so thinkin i need a manifold then as im pulling it off i see no traces of water in the exhaust then after setting it down i noticed that the 3 small core plugs in the head all had small rust holes through them cheap easy fix thankfully. The inside of the manifold water portion all looks just lightly rusted so all seems good.
