Hello

I am working in nicaraugua on a 30' wooden sail boat. I need to make some seam compound for below the waterline, I understand it can be made using tar, linseed oil and concrete, what are the ratios of these ingredients, if any one has tried this.
Thank you

Simon

Re: making seam compound

It sounds like that is a very antique recipe, I'd go with a 2 part epoxy resin and SM fairing compound... but then, I've never worked on a wooden boat... just boats that have wood in them.

Simon, you need to go to the Woodenboat web site Building / Repair There are a good number of people there who know just the recipe you are looking for.

Welcome to Iboats Simon :) ..

Interlux makes some seaming compound for plank joints. You might want to give them a call to see if they have a special mix in calk tubes for ya.

YD.
