Have the 1987 alumicraft, aluminum hul 19ft., that i am bringing back to life, the boats original was a light grey. From years of neglect probobly not even washed, its lost its shine. Short of a new paint job, what can I clean her with & meyby wax. I tried a small area of a cleaner wax that I think took some of the color off on the rag but it did leave somewhat of a shine but not enough that I would do all the boat with in this fashion. Any suggestions on cleaners and/or waxes. Dave.

hello, first off wax and all its glory never looks good on my boat i've done it differnt ways multiple times and it never seems to help any. few weeks ago i tried this stuff called " black magic protetor" i am pretty sure that is it. its in a spray bottle and its kind of like armor all, make sure the hull is clean of water marks and crap then apply with a towel or rag so far my boat is still smooth and shiny. every time i wax my boat i get blue paint coming off it, and it will look good for 15 -30 minuites then dry out and looks the same.

Hi, thought I replied but it didnt post-- my apoligies, Thought occured to me about using trisodium phosphate ( tsp) used it on alum. siding as a cleaner prior to painting and it turned out so well I didnt have to paint part of the house sooo--I think ill try a small portion on boat & see what happends. To clarify you used black magic protector with wax or take place of wax? Happend to recall where you got it?? Thanks, Dave
