I want to repaint this old weathered dash. Id like it to be nice and glossy. Any ideas? Ive painted plastics in my old show car before, so i have a little experience in thia area. Just wondering if anyone knows the best paints or what to use for marine applications.
Thanks

Not to rain on your parade...but there is a very good reason why the manufacturer uses a dark matte finish on the dash/helm console. It is that way to prevent reflections on the windshield, or sunlight from bouncing of the surface into your eyes. Aircraft are done in an identical fashion. If you must repaint, use a paint that is flexible, like vinyl finishes, and for Heavens sake, use a dark color if you must have color. Good luck!

"Glossy" was a bad word choice, "new" would be a better word. It would suck to be blinded by my own dash. So a flat black would be ideal? And has anyone had thier dash repainted? Any pics?

Actually, black can be reflective too under the right circumstances; especially if the surface is smooth and angular. You're right though, flat black would look fine on your mostly curved dash. I personally would go with a dark gray, or if you want to spice it up a little bit, choose a shade that complements your boats interior or paint job colors with the flat or matte version of it. For example, my Sundancer is trimmed in three colors, maroon, burgundy and wine red. The helm is upholstered in burgundy vinyl, and the dash is maroon. That is from the factory. Non-reflective, and complements the seating. Let's see some pic's of your vessel! :)

Plastic dash needs special paints...... Talk to a local graphics shop and maybe have it wrapped or look into Hydrographics. You can get any finish from carbon fiber, straight color, wood.....real nice stuff and UV protected. Instant Bling!
