I have no idea what animals are commuting in and out of attic hole. In central N J.
Thank you.
If you can get to where the camera is with ease, just about any of the cheap ones at Walmart will work. 25$ to 35$ and you’ll need an SD card. Set it up and after a couple days pull the card plug it in to your computer and see what’s going on.
. I believe the Spypoint cams will send to your phone and don’t require a subscription last time I checked.

Seal the hole. Use spray foam if anything tries to get thru the foam before it sets will perish. The only way to prevent the animal from reentering is to kill it.

The good thing about right now. Is night time temperatures of 20 F . There are no birds flying around. I really want to let the animals out. Then seal them out. I do not want to seal in a lot of animals. Might be too much stink to live with until they dehydrate enough. I do not know of any people that have sealed in squirrels. I do not see any day time animals on any of the yard areas.

You need to get them out if it’s squirrels. A squirrel will chew the heck out of where ever he is trapped trying to get out. They can do some damage.

Can you access the attic? Rat Traps with peanut butter and crushed peanuts. Tie some string to the trap to keep it close once the trap is sprung. Make sure you fasten hardware cloth to the inside of the hole. Trim all tree branches close to the house. I use a box trap on squirrels they go not escape. e-bay search squirrel box traps, in those traps use peanut parts. If it is bats call a professional because it can get nasty real fast with multiple bats quickly.

A couple different times we had flying squirrels get in, but they never it made it back out. They're nocturnal.

Had a squirrel in our attic years ago. Tried to trap, but it was a smarter than average squirrel. Would eat the bait up to the live trap, but not enter. Had chewed a hole through the facia board, so I slid a piece of aluminum soffit material behind the gutter and got it all the way up to the shingles to block his entrance. Screwed it in place. Little sucker chewed through the aluminum! I figured it had to be a female with babies, but it wound up being a male. I shot him with a pellet gun in the yard after seeing him come from the roof of the house.
