Re: Make floatable & comfy...cabin build help
Nice looking little boat. When I first saw her picture I thougth "nice little Novi, she shows here Canadian maritime heritage" (Nova Scotia / Newfoundland). But then I saw you are from NSW, so I am assuming Aussie? -- enjoying the summer?
--- Now for your boat. I would be careful how much of a 'cabin' you add. your hull is pretty round bottomed and may be quite 'tender'. ("Tender" means not a whole lot of initial stability, it will roll back and forth fairly easilly.) This means that adding weight 'up high' as in a cabin top will make the condition only worse, (she will roll even more in a seaway). And an open cabin top has the ability of acting like a sail or parachute in the wind, and a good wind could have the ability to acually roll her over to the point she starts flooding. -- Not saying it will happen, just saying be careful about what you build up high.
The 'deck' you build inside her is properly called the "cockpit sole".
As she appears to be fairly lightly built I'd ba careful about that "middle of the dash" that you took out. It looks like it was actually built as a ring frame, maybe to keep her from panting (keep the sides from flexing in and out).
A little 20 hp Yanmer would be perfect for her!
