I picked up a service manual. What would the clutch dog issue be listed under in the index?

Heres a pic of your lower unit. Hope it helps.

Reread post #2 and I hope you have a lot of patience. Since gravity is your enemy, getting the shift cradle pivot screw back correctly involves moving the cradle back into the correct position, which is way easier with the lower unit laying on its side.

Bet you won't do this again.

I read up on this and this is beyond my comfort level. I found a local mechanic for $65/hour and he will be fixing it, changing the water pump and changing the oil for 3 hours of labor.

After that, I will have done:

- New screws/plugs/o-rings for oil
- New gear oil
- New impeller and housing
- New o-rings/seals for the 2 screws I removed by accident
- New spark plugs (did yesterday), sprayed some fogging oil into cylinders
- Cleaned/greased propeller, replaced cotter pin
- Run fresh gas with Seafoam through system, flush with water

I'm also going to clean the carbs. How can I tell if they need a carb kit?

That should about do it. It ran fine last year, so should run even better now (fingers crossed).
Bet you won't do this again.
