DSCN5627.jpgHi. I want to repaint the inside of my 1980's Lund Aluminum boat.....
A lot of the floor area is pitted.....and I have fixed 1 or 2 leaks with JB weld,
What type of paint should I use?
thank you!

Re: Lund boat paint

Paint is a matter of budget, you can use Rustoleum oil based enamel for 10 bux a qt...up to the sky...

Regardless of what you choose as a paint system, there are a few necessary steps u need to do for proper adhesion, especially on foot traffic areas.

1) wash it with soap/water and then clean it with a wax/grease remover (surface cleaner)

2) sand

3) you should then clean it with a phosphoric acid based cleaner, like Alumiprep or equivelent

3) you should lightly coat any bare aluminum with either an epoxy primer, or a wash primer, or a zink chromate primer, or alodyne product, or an etching primer...

4) then follow the primer/paint instructions for the system you chose as topcoat

Por15 primer and topcoats would be ideal for your application, but its a bit pricey

A good industrial epoxy paint is another good option...
