Weather got nice enough to get my wood trim all finished on my boat. The last time it was in the water was Sep & Oct of 06. When I took it out, the motor quit on me as I was loading it on the trailer. Since I didn't get a chance to start it before winterizing, I've been worried about maybe water injestion through the exhaust. All I did was drain the block and manifolds, no antifreeze like I normally do. For the last two winters, the temps gone below 0 for several days on end. That was another worry if it was going to crack somewhere. I never use stabilizer in the fuel, and my water seperator is the same one I put on for the 2 months in 06. I put 10 gallons of fresh gas in it. The tank was bone dry since I drained the gas for my mowers and other equipment. Changed the oil/filter and removed the distributor to prime the oil pump by using a drill. Hooked up the garden hose up to the line going to my raw water pump and dribbled some gas into the carb. Hit the key and she fired right up! No leaks, 160* water temp, 45# oil press at 800rpm, amp guage reading just on the + side. Boy does this make me feel great! BTW,,,,no blue, white, or black smoke,,,,none at all

After all the bad luck the past couple of months with my knee and getting my teeth knocked out,,,,,,,,bout time for some good luck. We sure did miss being on the lake last year. That was the first time in 20+ years I hadn't been on a boat. Hopefully the boat will be in the water in just a couple of weeks,,,,,,,,providing the weather don't turn to ________! Thanks to those that helped me and ridiculed me on some of my ideas a projects. Nice bunch of shipmates!...............SS

I also lucked out on getting the last slip at the marina. Most of the time the weather is still freezing when they open for reservations. So it is get there the last week of Feb or forget about it.

It bothered me a bit wondering if I was going to be able to use it not knowing if the engine was going to be okay. Took the gamble,,,,,and I'm glad. Guess I should have bought a lottery ticket that day too!

Hi there Double EE! Hope your warm weather is on its way for ya!

Good news, SS! It runs, and it may float, so if the weather breaks, you might get a chance to use it ... if you have saved enough cash to afford the fuel! :D

Re: Luck at Last

Congratulations!

Many people would have given up by now. You have patience and you are focused on what you want.

Consider the alternatives...... you could have lost your temper and beat that kid to within inches of his feable life for the sauce gun incident!! You could have milked the worker compensation on your knee and become a constant complainer or become addicted to pain killers! You could have blamed the people in Wash DC for the flood incident! Hmmmm bad things happen in three's..... it's over!! :D

Nope! You have demonstrated the ability to be normal!! You deserve some luck!

Let me be among the first to remind you.........

DON'T FORGET THE PLUG!!!!! :D

LMAO Bob!,,,,,,the plug is sitting on the intake manifold where I always keep it when its out of the water. Took me awhile to figure out what that big pipe plug was for when I was putting in the plugs for the manifolds and block.
