hi is the Elite-4x DSI Fishfinder, 455/800 kHz Transducer - Lowrance a good unit for small bass boats like this

not with that transducer, you want a 50/200. That's the standard. I run a 50/83/200 and I'm good to 1000 ft. What you have is a structure scan transducer. I have both on my HDS 8.

That is a good unit but have a look at the Humminbirds also.
