Re: lowes coming to canada

Have always had good luck with Lowes.
Never had a problem if I had to return something.
Seemed to always have the answers I needed.

I have a lowes and HD directly across the street from each other, and so far the prices seem compairable, but at least for these 2 stores, customer service is many times better at lowes. And that in itself is worth my business

They are about the same as Home Depot.

They will price match. Good selection and customer service.

The competition will be good, so will the prices.

I spend a lot of time (and money) at Lowes. Of the big box stores I think they are a bit ahead. Good service/knowledge/quality most of the time.
That being said I have a "project house" I am rebuilding and I usually go to Menards for this as they are usually 25% cheaper. You get what you pay for though, so it's best to know what you're doing.

here HD, was here about 8 years before Lowes, Lowes customer service is still hurting in our area. HD has a better lumber, and trim selection.

It depends :)

Here HD started in a LOT of old buildings and when Lowes came in they built all NEW so they look nicer inside

The experts in the stores vary with how good or bad the building industry is doing in your area ;)

Lowes is a good comany.. I have a HD card, but i buy more at lowes.. We remodeled our kitchen about a month ago, and bought a new washer and dryer too..

Our stove was damaged.. They took it back, gave us a brand new one, plus they were going to give us 10% off of it.. We declined and asked them to put it towards our washer and dryer. They said sure no prob..

Stove - $699, 10% would have be $69
Washer - $899, 10% we got $89 off

The washer had something wrong with it too, it is a front load. It overfilled and flooded.. They Gave us another BRAND NEW one, The next day.

We also bought the pedistals one was busted, got another the next day..

My experience with lowes is good, even though we had 3 major things broke or damaged, they replaced all AND gave us a discount.. They said all had problems from the factory, because none of the box's were damaged.

Re: lowes coming to canada

I prefer Lowe's, wife prefers HD. Home Depot's layout has always confused me. It is much easier for me to find stuff at Lowe's and I have been going to HD much longer, so there is just something more intuitive to me about Lowes. Both seem to have some pretty knowledgable people.

Re: lowes coming to canada

We got a Lowes about a year ago and I like it. It seems Lowes is a more consumer oriented store and has a better selection of design and finish items especially appliances where as home depot has a more expansive line of building materials, electrical and plumbing items. Just for example Home Depot carries 3/8 threaded rod in 10' sections in the electrical department for about $5 a stick. Lowes only has three foot sections in hardware for about the same price as hd wants for the ten footer. Its nice to have both of them here now-- opens up some options we didnt have before.
