Are all Mercruiser Alpha 1 Gen 1 lower units interchangeable. We found a crack and water in the gear lube. There are no markings or stickers on it. the outdrive is on a 1986 sea ray 270 sundancer. With dual mercruiser 260's. We have an extra outdrive in storage that my son got for free. Wondering if that one will work for us.

being duals is one counter rotation? I could be confusing things for you, but not sure on an alpha if the counter rotation is done in the lower.

So if the cracked lower is on the RH rotation drive then a RH lower will fit it. CR uses a different lower.

I looked at the props and they look the same. so Im guessing its not counter rotation

Yes if you have two RH props then no counter rotation. You should be good to go with the spare lower you have.
