Is there a way to tell what year model a evinrude lower unit is when it is off the motor? Thanks Randy

If you can locate the part number of the lower unit, you could search for it using the johnson/evinrude parts website, but they only go back to 1968.

I don't know if the part number gets stamped on the lower though?
Maybe one of the experts can answer that.

Any clues or are we to take a stab in the dark? Big, little, new, old...? There are no model or serial numbers on the lower unit. A visual ID is the best bet. A picture might help.
